Cory Nealon is a director of news content for University Communications at the University at Buffalo. He joined UC in 2012 after writing for newspapers in Virginia, Pennsylvania and New York. Prior to that, he worked as a ditch digger, musician, mailman, ladies’ coat salesman and dishwasher. He holds a bachelor’s degree in English and a master’s degree in business administration, both from UB.

David Hill is a director of news content for University Communications at the University at Buffalo. Prior to joining the university in 2011, he spent nearly 10 years toiling at two community newspapers, covering everything from food festivals and bland board meetings to crazy crime stories and high school sports.

Ellen Goldbaum has been with University Communications at the University at Buffalo since 1990 and has covered the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences since 2011. Before coming to UB, she lived in New York City (her hometown) where she worked for several magazines, most of which are now, unfortunately, defunct.

Laura Silverman is director of content strategy for University Communications at the University at Buffalo. She joined UC in 2013 after working in magazines for 25 years, in Atlanta (Mangajin), New York City (Newsweek Japan, Civilization, Vibe, Maxim) and then Mumbai, where she helped launch Vogue and GQ as group managing editor for Condé Nast India.

Laurie Kaiser, a news content manager for University Communications at the University at Buffalo, is a Dallas native who began her career as an education reporter for a daily newspaper in the Dallas/Fort Worth suburbs. She has since worked as a business editor, projects reporter, parenting magazine editor and editorial page editor at publications in six cities across four states, and served as a media relations professional at DePaul University. Since 2010, she has been happy to call the City of Good Neighbors home. 

Tom Dinki, a news content manager for University Communications at the University at Buffalo, is a UB alumnus who returned to work for the university in 2022. In between his UB stints, he worked as a professional journalist for over six years at a small daily newspaper in New York’s Southern Tier, and later, at Buffalo’s NPR station.

Vicky Santos, a news content manager for University Communications at the University at Buffalo, began her career as a reporter in the Adirondack region of New York. She then spent 17 years in Alabama as the director of news and media services at Auburn University’s College of Liberal Arts before moving back north in 2021 to join UB’s media relations team. She’s enjoying getting to know the faculty, staff and students, and still says “y’all” a lot but is determined to keep it out of her podcast interviews.
